Adult ADHD Evaluations
Diagnostic Clarity for Adults Who Feel Stuck, Scattered, or Overwhelmed
Many adults come to us after years of wondering why life feels harder than it seems to feel for other people.
You may be intelligent, capable, and deeply motivated—and still find yourself struggling with procrastination, disorganization, emotional overwhelm, forgetfulness, unfinished projects, or the painful sense that you are always falling behind.
For some people, these struggles are rooted in ADHD. For others, they may be related to anxiety, trauma, depression, burnout, sleep problems, or the nervous system impact of chronic stress. A careful ADHD evaluation can help clarify what is really going on, and what kind of support is most likely to help.
At Brooklyn Somatic Therapy, we offer comprehensive adult ADHD diagnostic evaluations for adults seeking greater self-understanding, treatment direction, and documentation to share with psychiatric or medical providers.
Who This Evaluation Is For
An adult ADHD evaluation may be helpful if you:
Have long suspected you may have ADHD
Were never evaluated as a child, but recognize yourself in descriptions of adult ADHD
Struggle with focus, follow-through, time management, organization, or emotional regulation
Feel chronically overwhelmed by daily responsibilities
Have a history of being told you are “smart but not living up to your potential”
Are seeking diagnostic clarity before pursuing medication or other ADHD-specific treatment
Want a thoughtful, psychologically grounded report rather than a brief screening
This service is designed for adults seeking careful diagnostic clarification. It is not a full neuropsychological evaluation and may not meet the documentation requirements for every school, testing agency, or workplace accommodation request.
What the Evaluation Includes
Our ADHD evaluations are conducted fully online and include:
Clinical Interview
A thorough interview exploring attention, executive functioning, emotional regulation, developmental history, school history, work functioning, relationships, sleep, trauma, anxiety, mood, and other factors that can mimic or complicate ADHD.
Standardized Rating Measures
You will complete evidence-based ADHD and executive functioning questionnaires. When appropriate, we may also ask a partner, parent, or other close person to complete collateral forms.
Differential Diagnosis
ADHD rarely exists in isolation. We carefully consider whether your symptoms are better explained by ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, substance use, sleep problems, learning differences, or another concern.
Feedback Session
After the evaluation, we meet to review findings, answer questions, and discuss next steps. You are free to bring a spouse or partner to this session.
Written Report
You receive a clear written report summarizing diagnostic impressions, relevant history, clinical findings, and recommendations for treatment and support.
Why Work with a Psychologist?
An ADHD evaluation is not simply a checklist. Many adults with ADHD have spent years masking, compensating, overworking, or blaming themselves for symptoms they did not fully understand.
A psychologist-led evaluation brings together diagnostic expertise, developmental understanding, and attention to the full person—not just the symptom list.
Our goal is to help you leave the process with greater clarity, less shame, and a more accurate map of what kind of support you need.
Fee
The fee for a comprehensive adult ADHD evaluation is $2,000.
This includes the clinical interview, standardized measures, feedback session, and written diagnostic report.
Payment plans may be available upon request.
Online ADHD Evaluations
This service is offered fully online for adults located in New York State.
You can complete the process from home, including intake forms, clinical interview, questionnaires, feedback session, and report delivery.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
It certainly can help. Many clients share their report with a psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, or primary care physician when discussing ADHD medication. We do not prescribe medication, and medication decisions are always made by your medical provider.
-
No. This is a comprehensive ADHD diagnostic evaluation, not a full neuropsychological battery. If you need extensive cognitive, academic, or learning disability testing, we may recommend a neuropsychological evaluation instead.
-
Sometimes. Many clients find the report helpful in requesting support, but documentation requirements vary widely by school, employer, licensing board, and testing agency. If your primary goal is formal accommodations, please let us know before scheduling so we can help determine whether this evaluation is the right fit.
